Being a Beaver

When you join Beavers, you’ll be introduced to lots of new activities, people and things. Here’s everything you need to know.

Beaver Scout activities are a combination of learning and having fun. Whilst doing these activities the Beavers will begin to enjoy themselves and start to learn how to work by themselves and in a team. After a few weeks of going to meetings the new Beaver Scouts will make the Promise, becoming members of the Beaver Scout section and the world – wide family of Scouting. The new Beaver is given a badge book containing information that they will work from at the weekly meetings. Beavers can now gain many badges including challenge and activity badges and the highest award before they leave Beavers which is the Chief Scouts Bronze Award.

There are District and Group events during the year that Beavers are encouraged to attend. During the year there is usually a ‘Sleepover’, and activity day at Oaks Park, a pantomime at Christmas and last but not east a ‘Good Turn for Others’ which in previous years has included sending contributions to the air ambulance, visiting Bridge House Care Home and bulb planting in aid of Polio awareness.
